With a humble light box, the children manipulated the magnetic tiles on the bright surface. Starting out as a bit of a novelty, the children piled the tiles in massive towers; however, the play became refined. The children started to intentionally become architects in their play and create sculptures and mazes, working with the light cast through the tiles. Aesthetically, we were all enraptured, and it was a beautiful experience for all, even the audience! We also discovered some bone x-rays a past vet parent had donated. This branched out to many interesting discussions- past families/attending children; bone structures and the mystery mammal; what a x-ray is and how the light box amplifies the image. Such curious and confident minds discussed these topics. Looking forward to more adventures in learning with light.
